At least 109 people have died after heavy rains overnight on Tuesday triggered flash flooding and landslides in Rwanda's Western and Northern Provinces, Rwanda's state broadcasting agency has reported.
Authorities said they are looking for survivors.
Local media claimed that the districts of Ngororero, Rubavu, Nyabihu, Rutsiro, and Karongi in Western Province are affected.
Rwanda's Meteorological Agency forecasted last week that the monthly rainfall forecast would be slightly above the usual range for May.
The Rwanda Broadcasting Agency reported that the natural disasters resulted in wrecked homes, flooded farms, landslides, and impassable highways.
