Economic activities in the Southeast were grounded on Tuesday following a sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
It was observed that major streets in the state capital of the region were deserted.
The transportation companies, fuel stations, banks, schools and markets were shut while security operatives were seen patrolling the streets.
Some of the residents of Owerri in Imo State said it was because the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was to appear in court in Abuja.
In Enugu, Somtochukwu Eze said he was in support of the sit-at-home order.
He said that it was his own way of showing solidarity in the fight for Biafra restoration.
Another respondent in Enugu who did not want his name in print condemned the frequent sit-at-home orders in the South East.
He said it was wrong to force people to remain indoors against their will.
For Chinedu Nwite who resides in Abakaliki, the negative effect of the sit-at-home on his restaurant business is significant.
He said that although the Monday sit-at-home is not effective in Ebonyi, sitting at home any day the IPOB leader goes to court takes its toll on his business.
