A Non-governmental Organisation, Ibidapo Foundation, on Friday distributed assorted food items and learning materials to no fewer than 500 indigent students of Rochas Foundation, Sokoto.
During the distribution of the items, the Founder of the foundation, Lawal Ibidapo, stated that the gesture was to promote the ambition of the school proprietor in improving the living standard of less-privileged children across the country.
“This is an initiative with the sole aim of supporting the indigent children to have access to quality education and provide comfort for children of the less privileged in all parts of the country.
“Today’s gesture is part of our efforts at showing love to those children identified by Sen. Rochas Okorocha,’’ he said.
The Founder vowed that the contribution would be sustained and the foundation would not relent in identifying other areas of support to the less-privileged in the society.
While speaking, the college Principal, Michael Shilong, thanked the founder for the support, noting that it would further assist teaching and learning in the school.
“The development will surely complement the efforts put in place by Okorocha for free education to indigent children, not only in Sokoto but across the country,’’ he said.
Shilong also called on other well-meaning persons and organisations to emulate the foundation’s initiative by aiding the education of indigent children.
Some of the items donated to the school include noodles, biscuits, notebooks and writing materials, among others, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The event also featured debate, presentation of spoken words of love, drama and cultural performance by the pupils.
