A South African woman from KwaZulu-Natal was shot at least ten times while in a vehicle on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
KwaZulu-Natal police said they are investigating the death of the woman who was “shot at least 10 times” in a vehicle on Sunday in Ashburton near Pietermaritzburg.
Police believe the suspect, a guy, was familiar to her.
Mi7, a private security firm, stated its control room received a post on an Ashburton neighbourhood group reporting gunshots fired near Wally Hayward Drive.
"Mi7 response officers were promptly summoned and discovered members of the community gathered around a vehicle on the same street," Mi7 stated.
Officers responding discovered a woman shot dead in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle.
"Mi7 control room operators acted quickly to notify police and medical personnel, who pronounced the woman dead on the scene." According to the firm, she was shot at least ten times.
According to family members on the scene and an eyewitness who was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, the woman had gone to a private gathering on Wally Hayward Drive and was challenged by a man she knew.
"An argument is said to have broken out between the two, and she was escorted out by an eyewitness who was driving her home in her vehicle."
The man is alleged to have followed the pair and opened fire on the woman before fleeing the area.
"The eyewitness was not hurt," Mi7 claimed.
According to the private security firm, a description of the shooter's car was distributed and loaded onto the Mi7 Surveillance Net.
The car was later discovered abandoned by police.
The police are looking into the situation, according to Mi7.
"We express our condolences to the deceased's loved ones," it stated further.
