Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was marred by tragedy when extreme temperatures reportedly led to the death of a fan named Ana Clara Benevides Machado on Friday night.

Per the latest reports, the teeming fans had to endure dangerous conditions while standing in line for hours to get inside the stadium and secure a good spot in the general admissions area.

It was anything but fun as fans caught in the extreme heat begged for water, leading to Benevides fainting and needing resuscitation for about 40 minutes.

Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo reports that she suffered a second cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital and died shortly after her arrival.

After Benevides' death, other fans shared their ordeal in the terrible conditions.

One of them, an American concertgoer who was present at the show, described what he called “pretty unsafe” conditions in “unbearable heat.”

“People were really struggling, right in front of me, I saw a girl faint. When we tried to call for help, nobody was able to really come,” he said.

“Throughout the show, people who were closer to the stage area actually started to leave because it was too hot for them,” he added.

A second fan disclosed that it felt like 140 degrees, adding that many of them had gotten to the stadium hours before the event was billed to start to get seats close to the renowned singer.

“It felt [like] 140 degrees. It’s a freaking heat wave,” the fan whose name was not revealed stated.

Additionally, it was revealed that at some point during her performance, Taylor Swift paused to urge her staff members to give water bottles to fans who were chanting for them.

“It’s very hot, so if somebody says they need water when it’s this hot they really need it,” the star responded to fans screaming, “We need water.”

Speaking on Benevides' death, Taylor said that her heart was shattered by the news, pointing out that it was the last thing she thought would happen when the decision to bring the tour to Brazil was made.
