The list of the world's happiest countries has been released once again, shedding light on the countries where people experience the highest levels of well-being and satisfaction with their lives.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network's World Happiness Report used statistical analysis to determine the world's happiest countries.

The ranking takes a variety of economic, social, and environmental factors into account and provides insight into what makes a country a great place to live.

According to a CNN report on this year's release, benevolence is about 25% higher than it was before the pandemic.

"Benevolence to others, especially stranger assistance, which increased dramatically in 2021, remained high in 2022," John Helliwell, one of the World Happiness Report's authors, said in an interview with CNN.

According to the report, life evaluations from 2020 to 2022 were "remarkably resilient," with global averages roughly in line with the three years preceding the pandemic.

In this article, we will look at the most recent research on the top ten happiest countries in Africa.

1. Mauritius

Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, is famous for its beaches, lagoons, and reefs.

Black River Gorges National Park, located in the mountainous interior, features rainforests, waterfalls, hiking trails, and wildlife such as the flying fox.

Port Louis, the capital, has attractions such as the Champs de Mars horse track, the Eureka plantation house, and the 18th-century Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens.

2. Libya

Libya, a surprising entry into the top 10, is a land of breathtaking coastlines, dramatic ancient ruins, and the majesty of the Sahara.

It is an ancient crossroads of civilisations that left behind some of the most spectacular Roman and Greek ruins in existence, including Leptis Magna, Cyrene, and Sabratha on the Libyan coast.

3. Ivory Coast

The West African nation of Côte d'Ivoire has rainforests, beach resorts, and a history of French colonialism.

The largest city in the nation is Abidjan, which is located on the Atlantic coast. La Pyramide, a concrete structure resembling a ziggurat, and St. Paul's Cathedral, a swooping building attached to a massive cross, are two of its contemporary landmarks.

The Banco National Park is a rainforest preserve with hiking trails, located to the north of the central business district.

Beautiful, starfish-studded beaches, wonderful cuisine and style in abundance are the standout features of this nation.

4. South Africa

How do we begin? The Rainbow Nation itself is fascinating. South Africa is much more than just the Big Five.

Despite its ongoing racial and cultural tensions, South Africa is among the ten happiest nations in Africa due to its magnificent food culture, fascinating languages, and diverse, breathtaking landscapes.

5. Gambia

With 115 people per sq km, The Gambia has one of Africa's highest population densities for the smallest nation on the continent.

With almost half of the population under the age of 14, it is also a very young nation.

It is renowned for the variety of ecosystems that surround the main Gambia River.

Its Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve are home to an abundance of wildlife, including monkeys, leopards, hippos, hyenas, and rare birds.

Beach access is available in Serrekunda and Banjul, the capital.

6. Algeria

Europe is only a hop, skip, and jump away from the biggest nation in Africa.

Algiers, the nation's capital, is one of the Maghreb's most alluring cities, boasting a traditional medina at the centre of its dizzying core and a heady, nostalgic mix of colonial and modernist architecture.

The coastlines in the north are breathtaking.

The ancient Roman ruins in Tipaza, a seaside town, are just one example of the many empires that have left their mark here.

In the capital city of Algiers, the hillside Casbah quarter with its winding staircases and alleyways is lined with Ottoman landmarks like the Ketchaoua Mosque, built around 1612.

French colonial rule is when the Neo-Byzantine basilica Notre Dame d'Afrique was built.

7. Liberia

West African nation Liberia shares borders with Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Côte d'Ivoire.

The Liberia National Museum, which features displays of confocal culture and history, is located in Monrovia, the nation's capital city, on the country's Atlantic coast.

There are palm-lined beaches like Silver and CeCe near Monrovia.

Beach towns along the coast include the port of Buchanan and the laid-back Robertsport, which is renowned for its powerful surf.

Liberia was established by former US slaves. One of West Africa's best national parks is located in Liberia, a country renowned for its natural beauty.

The vitality of its people, which is inextricably linked to West African optimism and resiliency, still bears the imprint of its American past.

8. Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been dubbed one of Africa's most exhilarating - and difficult - travel destinations, has a lot to recommend it.

It boasts excellent food and drink, optimistic, resilient people (in the wake of brutal 20th-century colonial exploitation and authoritarian craziness), and vast tracts of undeveloped rainforest punctuated by gushing rivers.

9. Morocco

Despite having a population that is primarily Arab and Berber, the "gateway to Africa" still exhibits a strong sense of national identity.

The people of Morocco are friendly and welcoming, and the entire nation has a lot to offer.

Morocco is as vibrantly coloured as any of the handwoven, multicoloured tapestries you will want to buy in the medinas of Fez or Marrakech, thanks to its striking landscapes and diverse cultures.

10. Mozambique

Long, dune-lined beaches, turquoise waters teeming with schools of colourful fish, well-preserved coral, remote archipelagos in the north, pounding surf in the south, and graceful dhows with billowing sails are just a few of the attractions that Mozambique has to offer visitors.

Add to this the vibrant nightlife, colonial-style architecture, and cuisine that combines Portuguese, Indian, and African influences.
