A house is a place to unwind and indulge with your family, yet a proper residence may cost up to $1 billion for 1% of the world's population.

The proper residence we are talking about here is the one which is affordable by only a certain percentage of the world's population; the billionaires.

These wealthy people are ready to lavish their money on luxuries, the best of the best, and one of the luxuries includes houses or mansions.

Hence, in this article, we will be looking at the ten most expensive houses in the world.

10. The One in Bel Air, California- Estimated value: $295 million

When you find "The One" with 100,000 square feet, 20 bedrooms, and 30 bathrooms, you may want to show it to everyone in your life.

This Bel-Air jewel, which was once valued at $500 million, is now being offered for $295 million and will stay on the open market until it is auctioned.

The magnificent Los Angeles property is one of the largest ever built and is twice the size of the White House. God bless America!

9. The Odeon Tower Penthouse in Monaco- Estimated value: $330 million

When it comes to luxury real estate, the sky is the limit, or rather, the roof is not the limit in this case.

Would you ever contemplate putting a waterslide atop a 49-story Monaco skyscraper? No?

To be honest, you're not dreaming big enough.

The penthouse itself is five floors tall and offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the sea.

Its price tag exceeds that of many of the world's most expensive houses, and it's no wonder that the apartment's facilities are unparalleled, making it the pinnacle of an unfathomably posh living.

8. Le Palais Bulles in Theoule-Sur-Mer, France- Estimated values: $390 million

Although the French Riviera is lavish in general, nothing compares to Palais Bulles.

The Bubble Palace, as it is popularly known, is one of the world's most extravagant and varied mansions.

Famous designer Pierre Cardin commissioned Hungarian architect Antti Lovag to build the palace, which he transformed into an amazing architectural vision.

Cardin, on the other hand, never lived in the house and instead lived in the adjacent region, and the property was largely utilized for gatherings.

7. Villa Les Cedres in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France- Estimated value: $430 million

The gnarled cedar trees that border the path leading to the villa's doorway inspired the name Villa Les Cedres.

It was erected in 1830 on 35 acres of land and was acquired in 1904 by Belgian King Leopold II.

It has an Olympic-size swimming pool, a chandelier-lit ballroom, a wood-panelled bookstore with 3,000 books, and a stable big enough for 30 horses.

Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine's wealthiest billionaire, paid $221 million for Villa Les Cedres a few years ago, but the property's worth has nearly doubled since then.

6. Witanhurst in London, England- Estimated value: $450 million

This Queen Anne-style Georgian Revival manor home features 25 bedrooms, a 70-foot-long banquet hall, and a glass atrium.

Its one-of-a-kind view of London is one of the most spectacular in the city.

The home was purchased by the family of Russian millionaire Andrey Guryev through a shell firm in the British Virgin Islands, but it remains shrouded in mystery.

5. 24 Middle Gap Road in Hong Kong, China- Estimated value: $487 million

Is there anyone interested in a $487 million four-bedroom Hong Kong home?

The high-priced residence was finished in 1991, yet there is nothing to admire about it when compared to earlier houses.

However, in this case, you are paying for exclusivity rather than beauty. Peak Road, located at the top of Hong Kong's Victoria Peak, is the world's most expensive street. Here, the average price per square meter is $114,000.

4. Villa Aurora in Rome, Italy- Estimated value: $534 million

Buongiorno! Even when it comes to exorbitantly priced real estate, all roads lead to Rome.

This majestic palace served as Princess Rita Boncompagni Ludovisi's principal home.

It was founded in 1570 as a hunting refuge for Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi, the nephew of Pope Gregory XV.

It has the world's only Caravaggio ceiling mural, which dates from 1597 and is worth more than $350 million on its own.

I mean, isn't this a fantastic deal? The good news is that the villa is being auctioned off. What's the bad news? You are still in need of $534 million.

3. Villa Leopolda in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France- Estimated value: $750 million

With the exquisite Mediterranean pleasures of Villa Leopolda, our luxurious villas take on a French twist.

Between 1929 and 1931, an American architect, Ogden Codman Jr., designed and fashioned it, and its first proprietor was Belgium's King Leopold II, thus the name.

Edmond Safra, Lily Safra's husband, bought the property in 1987.

This mansion is also well-known for Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 film "Catch a Thief," which stars Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.

2. Antilia Tower in Mumbai, India- Estimated value: $2 billion

Nowhere on the planet do riches and despair live as harmoniously as in India.

Slums exist on one side, while a single family may possess a $2 billion edifice on the other.

The property was designed for Mukesh Ambani, Asia's wealthiest man, who is reported to be worth $89.2 billion.

The whole floor area of the tower exceeds that of the Palace of Versailles, and there are 600 staff. This is how a modern palace should look!

1. Buckingham Palace in London, England- Estimated value: $6.9 billion

We're not sure what else it could be if this isn't the epitome of having it all.

It's hardly a surprise that the world's most expensive home is owned by the world's most-known family, and no, we're not talking about the Kardashians.

Buckingham Palace, albeit not a private property, has 775 bedrooms, 78 bathrooms, 19 cottages, and 92 officers and has functioned as the monarchy's official mansion since the late 1800s.
