Thousands of people who are opposing the vaccination mandates in Canada have rallied in cities across the country to protest against COVID-19 restrictions on Saturday.
According to Aljazeera, about 5,000 people protested in Ottawa, while hundreds more gathered in Toronto, as well as in Quebec City, Fredericton and Winnipeg.
A Toronto protester who wanted anonymity told Reuters news agency that; “We’re all sick and tired of the mandates, of the intimidation, of living in one big prison.”
“We just want to go back to normal without having to take into our veins the poison which they call vaccines.”
Also, some of the protesters were seen carrying a flag in support of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump has spoken out in support of the truckers against the harsh policies of the COVID-19 mandates.
With the protests and blockade of roads entering its second week, Canadian authorities urged the protesters to go home.
In Toronto, police set up roadblocks preventing protesters in trucks or cars from getting close to the provincial legislature, located near five major hospitals.
