Tinubu’s fall: It's not about the fall, it's about standing strong - APC chieftain tells Atiku

Dr. Josef Onoh, the former campaign spokesman for President Bola Tinubu in the South-east, criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his remarks about Tinubu's minor stumble during the 2024 Democracy Day celebration at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Atiku had expressed his sympathy, saying, "I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him."

The presidency clarified that Tinubu had simply missed his step while climbing into the parade vehicle and tripped, but he quickly recovered and continued with the ceremony without further issues.

Onoh responded to Atiku's comments, suggesting that they were satirical and not genuinely sympathetic.

He emphasised that what matters is not the fall itself but how one recovers from it, and used the opportunity to mock Atiku for his loss in the 2023 presidential election as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Onoh in his verified X handle, @JosefOnoh, said, “Not how we fall that counts, but how we stand. Like every human alive we all have tripped and had a fall once in a while, some humourous, some fatal.

“World leaders are not immune too. Still standing strong. We rather keep standing than collapse like the PDP.”
