Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial poll.
This is coming after hours of court proceedings via Zoom whereby NNPP's Abba Kabir Yusuf was unseated in what negates the INEC declaration that he got 128,897 votes while Gawuna scored 890,705 votes in the election.
Reading the judgement on Wednesday, Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay certified Gawuna as the poll winner and the people of Kano are yet to properly digest the news that comes to some as a major shock.

The panel which consisted of three judges ordered the withdrawal of the certificate of return which INEC presented to Yusuf, and directed a certificate of return to be issued to Gawuna.
Furthermore, the court deducted 165,663 votes from Yusuf as invalid, stating that the ballot papers (165,663) were not stamped or signed and therefore declared invalid.
Residents are currently hurrying back home to avoid a possible outbreak of violence as such is expected given the tense atmosphere of Nigeria's political landscape.
