Death Toll Of Turkey's Heavy Floods Rises To 18

The number of people killed in the recent flash floods in the provinces of Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman has risen to 18, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Friday.

The Turkish minister confirmed that 16 people have died in Şanlıurfa and two in Adıyaman.

Floods caused by torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Turkey’s two southeastern provinces for days.

Heavy rain also flooded the intensive care unit at Şanlıurfa Eyyübiye Training and Research Hospital while patients are said to have been transferred to another hospital.

Schools in Şanlıurfa were also cancelled on Wednesday due to the aftermath of the rains.

The country, reeling from the damages of the earthquakes also had many stuck due to the floods near the Abide Köprülü Junction in Şanlıurfa.

Over 45,000 persons were reported dead in the earthquake that rocked the country.
