Two in Court For Breaking Into Church, Stealing N968,000 In Properties

Two suspects have been arraigned before a magistrate court in Ibadan for allegedly breaking into a church and carting away with properties worth N968,000.

The suspects who were arraigned on Monday were identified as Bidemi Emmanuel and Olatunji Johnson. 

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim said the suspects broke into Lifeline Tabernacle Church on the Ibadan Ring Road around 2 am on June 1 where they carted away properties worth almost a million naira.

The properties include "12 standing fans worth N516,000, a 32-inche LG TV worth N35,000 and one Canon video camera worth N220,000."

Ibrahim added that the two broke into the church with others who are at large.

He stated that other properties stolen include a public address system worth N112,000, one HP laptop worth N85,000 and N10,000 cash.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges read before them.

While adjourning the case to August 11, 2022, the Magistrate, S.A. Adesina granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each and two sureties each.
