Russian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vehemently denied that the  conflict between Ukraine and Russia has reached a "stalemate."

This comes in response to suggestions that Western leaders were advocating for peace talks amid the persistent deadlock on the sprawling front line.

Despite the lack of significant movement in almost a year, Zelenskyy remains resolute in his stance against pressure for negotiations.

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President Zelenskyy on Saturday expressed his conviction that the conflict is not at a standstill.

He firmly rejected the notion that Western countries were pushing Ukraine to engage in talks with Russia. Reports had surfaced about discussions between US and EU officials regarding the potential terms of such negotiations.

“No one among our partners is pressuring us to sit down with Russia, talk to it, and give it something."

“Time has passed, people are tired. But this is not a stalemate,” Zelenskyy said.

He acknowledged that such pressure existed earlier, before Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. However, he emphasized that at present, there was no pressure from EU leaders or the US to negotiate with Russia or make concessions.

The Ukrainian leader expressed his frustration with media reports regarding pressure to negotiate, asserting that he was unaware of the source of these claims.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that his actions would always align with the will of the Ukrainian people.
