The United States has disclosed that it currently possesses 1,419 deployed nuclear warheads in its arsenal.

The announcement came alongside a call for Russia to release its own nuclear data as part of their commitments under the New START Treaty.

The move marks a reversal of the US Department of State's previous decision not to share this information.

The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which came into effect in 2011 and was extended in 2021, sets limits on the number of strategic nuclear warheads, land and submarine-based missiles, and bombers that the United States and Russia can deploy.

However, amid strained relations following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the suspension of Russia's participation in the agreement earlier this year.

The US has expressed concern over Moscow's lack of disclosures and failure to implement key provisions of the treaty.

According to the latest figures released, the United States currently has 662 deployed intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), and heavy bombers, in addition to the deployed nuclear warheads.
