Nigeria drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea as both sides faced up with each other on Sunday hot afternoon in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Both sides had ample chances to take the lead in the contest but it wasn't to be as it took up until after the half hour mark for the goal to come.

Equatorial Guinea's Ivan Salvador scored in the 36th minutes to gift his team a shock 0-1 lead over Jose Peseiro's Nigerian side. He was assisted by teammate Jose Machin.

But the Super Eagles responded immediately via Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

The latter (Lookman) delivered a superb ball into the box and Osimhen had just to nod the ball down into the net to get Nigeria back on level terms.

After the restart, Nigeria went in search of further goals but with Osimhen missing a through ball from Alex Iwobi in the second half, it was clear that the game was destined for a score (1-1) draw.

Samuel Chukwueze and Joe Aribo came into the match in the second half as they were brought on from the bench to offer some spark in the final third.

But it wasn't enough as they failed to find the back of the net for Nigeria. In the end, it finished 1-1 between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
