Wike cannot be trusted with power – Dele Momodu slams FCT Minister

Dele Momodu, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, publicly denounced Nyesom Wike, the current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Tuesday for what he claimed to be Wike's betrayal of the party.

Momodu's charges underscore the political unrest that followed the 2023 presidential election by highlighting a growing divide inside the party.

In political circles, Wike's continued membership in the PDP although serving in President Bola Tinubu's APC-led administration has caused controversy and mistrust.

According to Momodu, there is a wider mistrust that cuts beyond political boundaries since even the president's team is dubious about Wike's loyalty.

After disputes within the PDP over the choice of Northerner Atiku Abubakar as the party's nominee, Wike's political career took a tumultuous turn when he backed APC's Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Due to this action and his subsequent appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike's loyalty to the PDP has come under scrutiny in the political debate.

The PDP has not yet formally sanctioned Wike despite the unrest and demands for disciplinary action from some PDP members.

Publisher and well-known individual Momodu voiced his dissatisfaction with Wike's conduct, charging him with weakening the PDP's cohesion and power.
