Women And The Reason For Their Sizzling Enticement To Bearded Men

Researchers have carried out a study to explain why women are most drawn to men with beards, even though this is still a contentious issue for a good number of people. 

According to a study that was published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology, women generally find beards attractive.

It claims that since women associate beards with advantages like increased fertility and survival, they are more likely to develop committed relationships with bearded men.

The study also reveals that women think bearded men are awesome.

How the study was carried out

Researchers manipulated computer graphics to create images of men with various facial hairstyles, including clean-shaven, light stubble, heavy stubble, and full beards.

Additionally, they altered the same man's brow ridge, cheekbones, jawline, and other features to make him look more or less masculine.

Women who saw the images thought the feminine faces were not as attractive as the unaltered, clean-shaven faces.

In comparison to full beards, which were most preferred by women looking for long-term relationships, the face with a small beard (stubble) was rated as the most attractive and received higher ratings for short-term relationships.

Males who looked particularly masculine or particularly feminine were the least attractive, regardless of the nature of the relationship.

The evolution of male ornamentation in many species has been influenced by sexual selection through female preference, according to the authors of the study. 

A Personal Primary Research

Personal primary research carried out among ten Nigerian ladies reveals that seven out of these ten ladies preferred bearded men to non-bearded men. 

While conducting the research, these women who preferred bearded men explained their reasons for their choice. 

Grace, 30, says bearded men appear more masculine than non-bearded men, thus, she feels safe going into a relationship with them, which will guarantee her safety when the need arises. 

Nafeesah, 27, is of the view that bearded men are way more attractive than men who don't have beards, she stated that while going into relationships, she watches out for looks and one of the prerequisites of a good-looking man is his beard. 

Five other Nigerian women between the ages of 23 and 32 picked to go into a relationship with bearded men rather than be in a relationship with men who are not bearded. 

Although each of them had their separate reasons for picking bearded men over men who do not have beards, their answers further justified our research. 

In conclusion of this study, it will be important to emphasise that 70 per cent of women including Nigerian women have a very high chance of going into a relationship with bearded men over men who do not keep beards.
