Women Surveyors Advocate Wealth Creation

Gender in the workplace has been described as no barrier to professionalism, wealth creation and national development.

This is as the ability of gender was urged to be identified by stakeholders at the workspace; a booster for wealth creation, networking and creativity.

This was made known by Dr Lola Olayinka Dosumu, Rector Federal School of Survey, Oyo, during the Nigeria Institution of Surveyors, Osun State Women-in-Surveying 2022 end-of-the-year programme, held in Osogbo.

According to Dosumu, Women in Surveying are professionals who irrespective of work challenges, contribute their quota through the workplace for sustainable economic and national development. 

She pointed out that the surveying profession is an intellectual one that gives good service delivery to its clients through its practitioners while applauding the Women in Surveying practitioners for being passionate and professional about their duties.

She also called out for more membership in the institution.

The Coordinating Director Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Jide Falade applauded the women for being bold to thrive in a male-dominated profession.

Falade urged them to continue to prosper in the profession, shun gender bias and support each other adequately.

He also charged them to advocate their profession to the upcoming generation, adding that there is no limit to the professions that the gender can be involved in.

Earlier in her welcome address, Osun Women-in-Surveying Coordinator; Oyelolaninu Oyewole-Gbenro, appreciated the guest lecturers and others for honouring the invitation of the institution.

Gbenro stated that Women-in-Surveying, as one of the subgroups of Nigeria Institution of Surveyors, is known for preaching the gospel of Surveying among secondary school students, especially the girl child.

She added that this is yielding great results as many students have been enlightened, and they in turn also enlightened their parents about Surveying and its importance in our society. 

Appreciating God for divine preservation throughout the year, she also thanked the institution leaders as she reiterated their will to train others, support one another and prevail in the quantity surveying profession which was thought to be a male-dominated profession.

Dignitaries at the 2022 Women-in-Surveying end-of-the-year party include Fellows of the Institution, Royal father of the day, father and mother of the day, NIS Executive, APPSN Executive, members of the state Branch, Sisters Professional, members of Women-In-Surveying among others.
