YBNL latest recruit Ahmed Ololade popularly known as Asake has revealed how he got his stage name.
It has been a bit of a mystery as fans wondered why he is going by the name of a girl child.
In an interview on Beat FM, the singer said the name 'Asake' is his mother's name who was a teacher in his secondary school.
According to him, instead of his peers calling him 'Omo Asake' (meaning the child of Asake) they called him directly by his mother's name.
Asake added that because he loves his mother, he had to keep the name.
"The name is from my mum. My mum used to be a teacher in my school then," Asake said.
"You know how students do it? Instead of them calling me 'Omo Asake.
"Omo means the child of Asake. I don't know how they edited the Omo out of it and started calling me Asake.
"And I love her so much so I felt like I had to keep the name."
Asake is a female name of Yoruba origin which means a daughter who is chosen to be cherished and pampered.
