Zulum Approves Sponsorship Of 19 Borno Indigenes to Study In Egypt

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the sponsorship of 19 indigenes of the state to study in Egypt. 

Zulum made the announcement on Wednesday at the State's Government House, while also disclosing the disbursement of $500 for each of the students. 

Governor Zulum also directed the Borno State Education Trust Fund to work out modalities of paying each of them 200 dollar monthly stipends while in a foreign land.

The Governor further congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to be good ambassadors of the state.

He also noted that a service bond agreement will be made available for them to sign so that when they return, they would serve the state.

Also speaking, the state's Commissioner of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Mustapha Babagana Mallumbe said the students were sponsored to study health courses. 

He added that the sponsorship was in line with the governor's ten years development strategy.

The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, Bala Isa also explained that the beneficiaries were drawn from 27 local government areas of the state.

He added that they were selected from low family backgrounds in their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs)
