AFROMEDIA PLC

Afromedia PLC is a Nigerian-based company specializing in outdoor advertising services. The company's outdoor advertising portfolio includes campaigns in airports, streets, furniture, and billboards. Afromedia's roots trace back to 1959 when it operated as a service arm of West Africa Publicity (WAP) within the United Africa Company PLC (UACL). In 1928, it became an integral part of UACL.

Originally, WAP provided comprehensive media agency and contracting services for the Royal Niger Company. However, in compliance with an international convention decree on the separation of media agency and contracting services, WAP underwent a division on October 28, 1959. This division resulted in the formation of two independent entities: Lintas Limited, specializing in media agency services, and Afromedia Nigeria Limited, focusing on media contracting display services. As a newly established company, Afromedia Nigeria Limited forged partnerships with Mills and Allen International (then the largest outdoor advertising company in the UK) and British Franco Electric Company, the largest UK manufacturer of illuminated and road traffic signs.

In March 1974, Nigerian managers assumed ownership of Afromedia, with Chief Joseph Okoye Nwabuinie, Rev Iretunde Olopade, and Mr. Simeon Olaghere as the founder-owner/managers. Subsequently, Afromedia PLC was officially incorporated on July 2, 2008, as a publicly quoted company. Over the years, changes in ownership structure occurred, and Otunba Akin Ire Olopade and Engr. Patrick O. Nwabunie became the founder-owner/managers. After obtaining approval from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Afromedia PLC listed its shares on the NSE on May 18, 2009. With a history spanning 56 years, Afromedia PLC continues to be a prominent player in the outdoor advertising sector in Nigeria.
