Arbico plc is a building and civil engineering contracting company, established in 1958 by Busil .C. Economides, the company which is quoted on the Nigeria stock exchange since 1978.the company which has been in existence for 63years has become one of the foremost building construction company in Nigeria with its presence across the geopolitical zones in the country.
Busil .C. Economides was a Greek engineer who was born in 1925. B.C. Economides, as he was known, came for a short visit to Nigeria in 1953 to convince his brother Peter Economides who resided in Lagos since the late 1930s. Fleeing the incoming world II .he returned to Greece as the war ended. His brother instead spoke to him about the amazing qualities and greatness of Nigeria and the country’s future post-independence that made Busil return and made up his mind to remain and explore the opportunities.
On his return Busil worked for six months with Costain West Africa before establishing his own construction firm.
