Austin Laz & company was founded in 1982 by Engr. (Dr.) Austin Lazarus Asimonye, Austin Laz & Company underwent a transformative journey to become a Limited Liability Company, with Engr. Asimonye assuming the role of MD/CEO in the same year. His expertise in Refrigeration Engineering led to the creation of the Austin Lazarus Ice Machine, marking the inception of the first Nigerian-made Ice Block Making Machine. Notably, Engr. Asimonye holds three patented rights and has earned numerous national and international accolades, including the "National Merit Award for Promoting the Growth of Indigenous Process Technology" in Engineering Design and Fabrication in Nigeria, as well as the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award.

Engr. Asimonye's contributions extend to serving on the Governing Councils of Federal Polytechnic, Bida-Niger State, and the Benin "Forum" at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). He held the position of National Vice-President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and served on the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Cargo Defense Fund.
