Yusuf Sulaimon Lasun was born October 4, 1960. He is from Ilobu, the administrative headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area, Osun State. He started his formal education at the Local Authority Primary School in Ilobu, Osun State and then proceeded on his secondary education at Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, Erin, and later moved to Ifon/Erin Community High School Ifon, both in Osun State from 1973 to 1979. He secured an admission into the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State where he studied Mechanical Engineering, and earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree.

He was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and represented Irepodun/Olurunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 where he was the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria.

Lasun decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Labour Party where he signified intentions to contest at its gubernatorial candidate.

He is the LP gubernatorial candidate for the July 16, gubernatorial election in the state.

Akin Ogunbiyi is a renowned entrepreneur and politician from Nigeria. He is best known as the founder and chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc. He is currently a member of the Accord Party (AP), although he was previously a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was recently declared by the Accord Party (AP) to vie for the gubernatorial seat in Osun Estate on 16 July 2022.

Adegboyega Oyetola is a Nigerian politician and Governor of Osun State who was born September 29, 1954, in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State. He started his secondary education at Ifeoluwa Grammar School, Osogbo and graduated in 1972. Oyetola proceeded to the University of Lagos and graduated with a B.Sc(Hons), Insurance in 1978. He had his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Potiskum, Yobe State between 1978 and 1979. Obtained Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lagos in 1990. He is the current governor of Osun State and will be seeking a second term under the APC in the July 16, 2022 gubernatorial election. He is married to Kafayat Oyetola and the marriage is blessed with children.

As Chief Of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Oyetola contested the Osun State gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September 22, 2018 gubernatorial election and won defeating his closest rival, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party. 

On March 23, 2019 Tribunal declared him to have not been legally returned and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue certificates of return to Senator Adeleke of the PDP.

The decision was contested at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court to the favour of Adegboyega Oyetola.
