She revealed in an interview in 2018 that she dates men and women, as long as the person is funny and doing something he or she loves.
Jacobson attended Valley Forge Middle School and Conestoga High School. She studied Fine Arts and Video Production at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she honed her comic skills by studying standup comedy.
Following her graduation from MICA in 2006, she moved to New York and started taking classes with the Atlantic Theater Company and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
From 2009 to 2011, she co-wrote and performed in the web series Broad City. It was nominated for an ECNY Award for Best Web Series and was well-received by critics.
In December 2015, Jacobson was in the movie Person to Person and also had a starring role in The Lego Ninjago Movie that same year. The animated film was released in 2017.
She appeared in the BoJack Horseman series, voicing the character of Emily. She also provides the vocals for Princess Bean in Disenchantment.
"I really admire people that do more than one thing. That's sort of the goal, right - to be an artist that can work in any medium. That's what I hope for my career."
"I'm not a political comic."
"I definitely relate so much to a lot of women in comedy, but I don't love segregating the genders. I'm just as influenced by male comedians as I am by female comedians."
She is the creator of Broad City, produced for TV by former SNL star Amy Poehler.
