Personal Life

Afeez Owo is a Nollywood Yoruba actor and film producer who was born on the 12th of April (his year of birth is not available). He is a native of Iseyin, Oyo State. 

He had his basic and secondary education at St Paul Anglican School, Idiroko, and Faramora Secondary School, Oyo State respectively before moving to Lagos in search of greener pastures.

Career

As far back as when he was in primary school, he has always had a passion for acting. In his secondary school days, he came up with a drama script titled 'Kokoro Aiye' which was widely applauded by his mates and teachers.

When he relocated to Lagos in the mid-90s, he met another Yoruba actor, Rasaq Olayiwola (Ojopagogo). It was through Ojopagogo that he gained ground in the Yoruba movie industry.

Owo started movie production in 2000 with the movie 'Maje Sinwon Waye'. He has several popular movies to his credit including Adurotoluwa, Abusi Eledumare, Yonu Simi, Agbalam, Eje Tutu, Gbere Meje, Oba bi Olorun, Ife Owo, Eekan Soso, and so on.

Apart from movie production, he has featured in minor movie roles including Egan, Ishipaya, Iwa Ose Meji, Omoge Lekki, Oloto ati Bada, and Kostrobu.

Marriage

Owo is married to Mide Martins, another popular Nollywood actress, and daughter of the late actress, Funmi Martins, who died on April 6, 2002, following a brief illness.

They both met when Mide returned from London during one of her mother's movie shoot. Owo was the coordinator of Funmi Martins films at the time. Because she was a shy person, she was usually by herself but wanted always wanted Owo to be beside her.

As at the time, they were just friends but moved their friendship a step further after they both got jilted in their different relationships. Their marriage is blessed with two daughters. 

Trivia

Afeez Owo once said he was not as secure with his tribal marks like he is now. There was a time he got teased so much that he attempted to use sandpaper to wipe them off. Bt now, he is comfortable in his skin that he'd be uncomfortable if anything wiped those tribal marks off his face.
