Personal Life

Al Pacino was born in the East Harlem neighbourhood in New York. He started smoking and drinking when he was nine years old and his two closest friends died from drug abuse.

He has never been married. He has three children; Julie Marie (born in 1989) and twins Anton James and Olivia Rose (born in 2001) with actress Beverly D'Angelo. His relationship with her lasted from 1996 to 2003.

Pacino dated his The Godfather co-star Diane Keaton and has also been romantically linked to Tuesday Weld, Jill Clayburgh, Marthe Keller, Kathleen Quinlan, and Lyndall Hobbs.

The actor had a ten-year relationship with Argentine movie star Lucila Polak (2008 to 2018).

Education

He attended Herman Ridder Junior High School but dropped out of most of his classes except English. He subsequently enrolled at the High School of Performing Arts.

Career

Pacino started his acting career in stage performances in 1967, with his movie role as a heroin addict in The Panic in Needle Park (1971) catching the attention of director Francis Ford Coppola who cast him as Michael Corleone in the blockbuster mafia film The Godfather (1972).

He co-starred in Scarecrow in 1973 and was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Serpico (1973). He played a race driver in the 1977 film Bobby Deerfield.

The actor's career experienced a slump in the early 1980s, with his 1985 film Revolution becoming a critical and commercial failure.

In late 1990, he returned as Michael Corleone in The Godfather III and starred alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in Frankie and Johnny (1991).

He gave an award-worthy performance in the drama Scent of a Woman (1992) and played the character of Satan opposite Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron in The Devil's Advocate (1997).

Pacino portrayed a publicist in People I Know (2002) and had a supporting role in Ocean's Thirteen (2007). He starred alongside Robert De Niro in the crime drama Righteous Kill (2008).

He was seen in Quentin Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. He also had a supporting role in Martin Scorsese's movie The Irishman (2019).
