Personal life 

Angelina Jolie Voight is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She was born in Los Angeles, California. After her parents divorced in 1976, she and her brother moved in with their mother, who had given up acting in order to raise her children.

She dated Anton Schneider in 2014 and flirted with British actor Jonny Lee Miller during the making of Hackers (1995). On the set of Foxfire, Jolie started a relationship with model-actress Jenny Shimizu.

Jolie married actor Billy Bob Thornton in May 2000 after a two-month engagement. They had met on the set of Pushing Tin (1999) but didn't date because Thornton was engaged to actress Laura Dern at the time, and Jolie was rumored to be seeing actor Timothy Hutton.

Jolie and Thornton announced the adoption of a child from Cambodia In March 2002. They split up three months later. On May 27, 2003, their divorce was finalized.

The actress next became romantically linked with actor Brad Pitt but they did not discuss their relationship publicly until January 2006 when she announced that she was expecting his child.

The couple was called "Brangelina" by the entertainment media and were the subject of worldwide media coverage during their twelve-year romance.

Jolie made her cinematic debut in Lookin' to Get Out (1982) alongside her father, actor Jon Voight, and her Hollywood career began in earnest ten years later with Cyborg 2 (1993).

Her first lead role was in Hackers (1995). She also headlined the critically acclaimed biographical TV films George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998).

 For her performance in the 1999 movie Girl, Interrupted, she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her breakthrough performance as video game heroine Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) cemented her reputation as a major Hollywood actress.

She continued her action-star career with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Wanted (2008), Salt (2010), and The Tourist (2010). Furthermore, she received critical acclaim for her roles in the dramas A Mighty Heart (2007) and Changeling (2008).
