Personal life
Anthony Anderson was born in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Compton. Anthony has a half-brother named Derrick Bowman. His younger brother Sterling died in 2002.
He is descended from the Bubi people of Bioko Island (Equatorial Guinea) as well as the Tikar, Hausa, and Fulani people of Cameroon, according to DNA analysis.
Anderson married Alvina Stewart, his high school sweetheart. They have been married for 25 years, and he frequently refers to his wife as his "Queen."
The couple has two children, Kyra and Nathan, who both played Tahj in the Netflix sitcom Richie Rich. Anderson has Type 2 Diabetes and has worked to raise awareness about the disease.

Career
Along with Laurence Fishburne and Tracee Ellis Ross, Anderson stars in and executive produces the hit ABC series Black-ish. For this role, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
His previous work includes the teen drama Hang Time. He joined the cast of Law & Order: SVU in 2008. He made his movie debut in Liberty Heights (1999).
Some of his other film credits include My Baby's Daddy, Hustle & Flow, King's Ransom, and The Departed.
