Personal Life

Arsenio Hall was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His parents are Fred and Annie Hall, and his father is a Baptist minister. He performed magic tricks as a child. He is unmarried but has a son (born in 1998).

Education

He graduated from the Warrensville Heights High School in Ohio in 1973, after which he attended the John F. Kennedy High School.

Hall later went to the Ohio University and the Kent State University.

Career

The actor moved to Chicago and then Los Angeles to seek a career in Hollywood. He made a few appearances in Soul Train (1971 to 2006). 

Hall hosted the MTV Video Music Awards between 1988 and 1991, appearing as a guest on many talk shows while landing roles in TV shows as well.

He starred alongside Eddie Murphy in the 1988 hit comedy, Coming to America and reprised his role in the 2021 sequel, Coming 2 America.

From January 1989 to May 1994, he had a contract with Paramount Studios to host the late night talk show called The Arsenio Hall Show. It became a success and earned a high rating among the younger demographic at the time.

A revival of The Arsenio Hall Show premiered on September 9, 2013, but it was canceled after one season due to low ratings.
