A.Y was born on August 19, 1971 in Warri, Delta state but he originally hails from Ifon, Ose Local Government in Ondo state.
He attended Delta State University where he studied Theatre Art. He graduated in 2003 as the most celebrated theatre arts student. While in school, he also won awards like ‘The Most Celebrated Student on Campus (1999, 2000), Best Show-Biz Promoter (2001), The Most Celebrated Student on Campus (2001) and The Jaycee Socio-Personality Award (2003).’ He also launched and hosted shows like Miss Delsu, Miss Delta and many more.
A.Y started his career as a personal assistant and event manager to Alibaba Akpoborome, a famous comedian and actor. He also started performing at Ali Baba’s Fans Club show at Victoria Garden City. Working with Alibaba prepared him into becoming a professional comedian.
A.Y rose to fame after performing in ‘Night of a Thousand Laugh’, hosted by Opa Williams. He is also the host of A.Y Live Shows, A.Y Comedy Skits and A.Y cribs.
His first movie ’20 Days in Atlanta was produced by him and directed by Robert O. Peters, a Hollywood Director. The movie was shot in Lagos, Accra and New York.
Other movies he has appeared in include; Being Mrs Elliot, A Trip to Jamaica, The Wedding Party, 10 Days in Sun City, American Driver, The Accidental Spy, The Wedding Party 2, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Merry Men 2.
