Emeka Akumefule

He was born on January 29, 1996, to an Igbo family. He discovered he could rap at age 13 and by the time he was 16, he was already exploring rap skills.

Although his parents were not in support of him rapping, he remained consistent and followed his dream. He became known when he came 1st out of over 3000 rappers who participated in Terry Tha Rapman’s Zombie competition in February 2012. He later released his first single “Stronger” off his “Hip hop in Blaq Mixtape”.

He also emerged the 1st runner-up in Vector’s king kong competition and won the Rhythm fm Freestyle Fury and became RhythmFm’s artiste of the month.

Blaqbones graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University with a degree in Engineering.

He is currently signed to 100 Crowns, an imprint of Chocolate City. In 2019, he was profiled by The New York Times as one of the new guards of Nigerian music.

In January 2019, The Guardian listed him as one of the ‘Top Ten Artists o Watch in 2019’.
