Samuel Animashaun Perry

Broda Shaggi is popularly known for always playing the character of a neighbourhood street rascal (Agbero) in his comedy skits.

He was born on July 6, 1998, in Ogun state, where he grew up with his late dad. As a child, Broda Shaggi had always had a passion for acting and he got motivated by his late father who taught drama at Mayflower Secondary School, Ikenne, Ogun State.

Prior to adopting the stage name ‘Broda Shaggi’, he played many characters while growing up including Inspector Perry – a policeman, Professor Dele and Akonni Ibadan.

After completing his secondary education, he enrolled at the University of Lagos where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts.

Broda Shaggi was discovered by Uche Jombo, a veteran Nollywood actress. She featured him in her TV series and gave him the needed hype which contributed to gaining him popularity.

‘Jesus appeared in Mushin’ was a comedy skit that brought Shaggi into the limelight. In the skit, he was asked by Aunty Shaggi what he would do if Jesus appeared in his vicinity. He answered in his usual ‘Area Boy’ way and the video was a success.

However, he was heavily criticized and was advised to take down the videos because it mocked the name of Jesus Christ. He responded to his critics and said that as an actor, his job is to play his role well.
