Personal life

Chris Evans grew up in the neighboring town of Sudbury, Massachusetts, after being born in Boston. His father, Bob, is a dentist, and his mother, Lisa (née Capuano), is the artistic director of the Concord Youth Theater. Evans' ancestors come from Italy and Ireland.

He is the brother of actor Scott Evans and has two sisters, Carly and Shanna. He was raised as a Catholic, as were his siblings.

The actor is currently single although he and actress Lily James sparked dating rumours in 2020 when they were seen leaving a private members' club in London.

Education

Evans spent the summer before his senior year of high school in New York City, where he studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

He attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and graduated early.

Career

Evans got his start in TV with parts in shows like Opposite Sex (2000). He rose to prominence after portraying Marvel Comics character Human Torch in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Prior to Fantastic Four, he had roles in several teen films, including Not Another Teen Movie in 2001. Evans also starred in the films TMNT (2007), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), and Snowpiercer (2013), which were both based on comic books and graphic novels.

He appeared in Fierce People, an independent drama based on Dirk Wittenborn's 2002 novel of the same name, in 2005 and was in the romantic drama London (2005).

Evans signed a multi-film contract with Marvel Studios in 2010 to play the superhero Steve Rogers/Captain America. Evans initially declined the part, but after consulting with Robert Downey Jr., he decided to take it.

He appeared in the sequels to Captain America: The First AvengerCaptain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

Evans also appeared in subsequent Marvel films, including Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 and the fourth sequel Avengers: Endgame in spring 2019.

The actor starred in Defending Jacob, an Apple TV+ crime drama miniseries based on the same-named book, in 2020 and appeared alongside an ensemble cast in the 2019 mystery film Knives Out.
