Personal Life

CKay is a fast-rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, and recording artiste signed under Chocolate City Music. He was born on July 16, 1995, in Kaduna state, although he originally hails from Anambra state.

At a very young age, he was introduced to music by his father who was a choir coordinator. By the time he turned ten, he had learned the piano and other musical theories. Also, growing up, he listened to the pop music of the time

At thirteen, he had started producing beats and writing songs for a Christian music group. While doing this, he developed his music skills.

Career

He founded Cre8tive Music with two of his friends in Kaduna. CKay also learned to produce music from another friend before moving to Lagos in 2014 to pursue a career in music.

He signed up as a production intern with Loopy Music in 2015, giving him the opportunity to work under big-time artiste M.I. Following the merging of Loopy Music with Chocolate City Music, where M.I. emerged as the new CEO, he was officially signed into the label.

He became the in-house record producer for the record label and has since produced music for artistes like Ice Prince, MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Victoria Kimani, Dice Ailes, Dremo, DJ Lambo, Koker, Blaqbonez, Barry Jhay, and many others.

He made his production debut with “Third Mainland Bridge” which featured MI & Moti Cakes on the TICBN vol. 1 album. He was also featured by MI on “The box” with Pryse-Illegal Music 3.

In August 2016, Ckay was officially signed as an artist with Chocolate City music. He released his first official single ‘Nkechi Turn Up’ that same year but shot into the limelight with the release of his 2018 single, Container.

Some of his songs include Love Nwantiti, which he had the remix version with Joeboy and Kuami Eugene, Love Nwantiti.

In 2020, CKay released a musical short film titled 'The First Film: Alien', a romantic fantasy based on a true story. The short film stars CKay alongside, Nuerki Nortey, Titilope Adesanya, and directed by Makere Thekiso.

The film featured music from his 2019 EP 'CKay the First' including “Oliver Kahn” featuring BOJ, “DTF”, and the original version of “Love Nwantiti”.
