Personal Life

Don Cheadle was born in Kansas, Missouri, and is of Cameroonian descent. He married his longtime partner, actress Bridgid Coulter in the early part of 2020.

He and Coulter have been together for over 28 years and they share two daughters.

Education

The actor attended Hartley Elementary School in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1970 to 1974. He graduated from East High School in Denver. Colorado.

Cheadle also attended the California Institute of the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater in 1986.

Career

He first appeared as a burger joint employee in the 1985 comedy Moving Violations and two years later, got a minor role in the seventh season of Hill Street Blues.

Cheadle portrayed the character of Rocket in Colors (1988) and gained worldwide recognition for playing Mouse Alexander in the film Devil in a Blue Dress (1995).

He made appearances in other movies like Rosewood (1997), The Family Man (2000), Ocean's Eleven (2001), Traffic (2004), and Hotel Rwanda (2004).

In 2010, Cheadle was cast to replace Terrence Howard in the Marvel superhero film Iron Man 2 (2010), playing James Rhodes/War Machine. He reprised the role in subsequent MCU movies.

He starred in the Showtime TV series House of Lies from 2012 to 2016, winning a Golden Globe award for his performance in it.

Cheadle starred alongside Benicio Del Toro in Steven Soderbergh's 2021 film No Sudden Move.
