Personal Life

Jamie Foxx was born in Texas and was adopted shortly after and raised by his mother's adoptive parents.

According to reports, the actor is not legally married but he has two daughters; one born in 1994 and another in 2009.

He has credited his grandmother as one of the greatest influences on his success in life.

Education

Foxx attended Terrell High School and got a scholarship after completing his education there to the United States International University, where he studied musical and performing arts composition.

Career

He started off as a standup comedian, telling jokes at a comedy club's open mic night in 1989, after accepting a dare from his girlfriend at the time.

Foxx was part of the cast of In Living Color in 1991 and after getting a recurring role in the comedy-drama sitcom Roc, went on to star in his own sitcom titled The Jamie Foxx Show (1996 - 2001).

He featured in the 1992 comedy Toys and nabbed his first dramatic role in Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday (1999).

Between 2003 to 2006, Foxx had roles in several notable films, becoming a lead star in 2007 when he appeared in the action film The Kingdom.
