Personal Life

Erica Nlewedim is a Nigerian actress, model, and reality TV star who gained fame after participating in the Lockdown edition of Big Brother Naija (BBN)reality TV show. She was born on March 13, 1994, as the only child of her parents – Eric Nlewedim Christian and Oby Nwokolo. She was raised by her mother in Lagos but she’s originally from Umuahia, Abia state.

Education

Erica had her secondary education at Victory Grammar School, Lagos but was later transferred to Command Secondary School, Ikeja. She graduated from Covenant University in 2013 with a degree in Business Administration. She also studied Acting for Film at the Met Film School, London.

Career

She started out as a model in 2014 when she participated in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MGBN) pageant. where she won the MBGN Miss Photogenic award. The competition made her gain massive recognition which saw her work with high-profile brands. She also featured in a Peak Milk TV advert alongside Nigerian pop Artiste, Falz.

She has worked for top brands including Jumia, Glo, and MyZotoApp. In 2013, Natures Gentle Touch, a brand that specializes in using natural ingredients to care for hair and scalp, appointed her as its brand ambassador.

She worked for MEI Oil and Gas Company as a marketing manager. In 2014, she participated in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and won the Miss Photogenic Award. Between 2015 to 2017, she was the brand face for Maltina, Zaron Cosmetics, and Access bank.

In 2015, she commenced her career in acting after getting a lead role in Secrets and Scandals. To further hone her skills in acting, she went ahead to study Acting for Film at Met Film School, London in 2019.

On July 19, 2020, she was among the 20 housemates in the lockdown of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show. She was however disqualified from the house for flouting the rules governing the house, refusing her deputy (Prince Nelson) from sleeping in the Head of House room, and threatening to kill her fellow housemate, Laycon.

Upon her disqualification, many of her fans across the world rose up in her support and opened an Erica gofundme account that raised more than $72,000 for her.
