Personal Life

Born in California, LaKeith Stanfield grew up in Riverside and Victorville. He has been in a relationship with actress Xosha Roquemore since August 2015.

The two have a daughter (born in JUne 2017). The actor resides in Hollywood Hills.


Stanfield attended the John Casablancas Modeling and Career Center in Los Angeles.


He had his first role in the short film Short Term 12 (2009) and a year later, appeared in another shirt film Gimme Grace (2010). Afterwards, he gave up acting for a few years.

Stanfield was contacted to reappear in a feature-length adaptation of Short Term 12. It marked his first feature movie role in Hollywood.

During movie productions, he practiced method acting, making himself distant from the other cast members like his characters. In 2014, he co-starred in The Purge: Anarchy and Selma, playing civil rights activist Jimme Lee Jackson in the latter.

He portrayed rapper Snoop Dogg in 2015 in the biopic Straight Outta Compton and played L in the Netflix Japanese manga series Death Note.

That same year, he appeared in Jordan Peele's critically-acclaimed thriller Get Out. In 2019, he played Lieutenant Elliot in the mystery film Knives Out.

Stanfield had starring roles in the films The Photograph (2020) and Judas and the Black Messiah (2021).
