Matthias Schweighofer is a German actor born in Anklam, Western Pomerania. He dated Ani Schromm between 2004 and 2012, and they became a couple again in 2013.

Their daughter was born in 2009 and they also have a son, born in 2014.


Schweighofer was a student of Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts but he dropped out after spending a year there.


The actor's first film role was in Raus aus der Haut (1997). Over the course of the next few years, he was seen in critically-acclaimed productions like Soloalbum (2003), Off Beat (2004), Das wilde Leben (2007), and Rabbit Without Ears (2007).

He directed his first film in 2010 with the romantic comedy What a ManSchlussmacher (2013) is the second film he directed.

Schweighofer was cast in the 2021 Netflix film Army of the Dead and he reprised the role in the prequel Army of Thieves (2021).
