Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike

His stage name ‘Phyno’ was derived from the word ‘Phenomenal’ and was given to him by one of his high school friends.

Phyno was born on October 9, 1986 in Enugu, where he grew up. His parents originally hail from Anambra state.

He studied Public Administration at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu. Phyno music interest started during his secondary school days where he learned how to play the drums and piano. He also learnt to create his version of recordings.

The rapper started producing his own music as far back as 2003, and began rapping in 2010 before relocating to Lagos to promote his music career.

As a producer, he has worked with artists like Timaya, Flavor, J Martins, Ruggedman and others. He started recording his debut album ‘No Guts No Glory’ but released it in 2014.
