Personal Life

Regina Hall was born in Washington D.C. and is the daughter of a contractor and electrician. Her mother is a teacher. In 2010 when she was 40, she tried to be a nun after a bad breakup but was unsuccessful because of her age.

She had first attempted to be a nun at the age of 14 and her second try failed as she was refused for being too old due to the cut-off age being 39.

Education

Hall graduated from Immaculata College High School and enrolled at Fordham University in the Bronx, from where she bagged a degree in English in 1992.

She further enrolled at the New York University, earning a Master's degree in Journalism in 1997.

Career

The actress made her first TV appearance in 1997 at the age of 26. Her TV career started with a part in the soap opera Loving and guest appearances in the Fox drama New York Undercover.

Hall played the role of Candy in the 1999 film The Best Man. It was her feature film debut and her portrayal of the character left a lasting impression on viewers.

She gained more recognition with her role in the comedy-horror Scary Movie (2000), appearing in the sequels as well. She also portrayed Brenda Meeks in the TV movie Disappearing Acts (2000).

Subsequently, Hall made appearances in notable films like Malibu's Most Wanted, King's Ransom, and The Honeymooners. She also featured in Law Abiding Citizen (2009).

In 2012, she played Candace Hall in Steve Harvey's film Think Like a Man and reprised her role as Candace Sparks in The Best Man Holiday.

She appeared alongside Kevin Hart in the 2014 film About Last Night and reprised her role as Candace in Think Like a Man Too.

In 2018, Hall was part of the ensemble cast in The Hate U Give.
