Sam Worthington was born in South East England. He moved to Australia as a baby and grew up in Warnbro, a suburb of Rockingham.

He is married to Lara Washington (nee Bingle) and they have a son named River. The actor is a Christian.

Worthington attended John Curtin College of the Arts where he studied drama but ended up dropping out. 

Career

He began his acting career with a small role in Bootmen (2000) before playing the lead in Gettin' Square. 

The actor appeared in films like Somersault, Macbeth, The Great Raid, Rogue, and Terminator: Salvation before getting his big break in James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar (2009).
