Sola Sobowale is married to former Executive Director of EKO Hospital, Oludotun Shobowale. They both are blessed with children, including a set of twins.
She was born on December 26, 1965 in Ondo state, where she originally hails from. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ondo before enrolling at the University of Ibadan to study music which she later switched to theatre arts, owing to her passion for acting.
Sola Sobowale joined an acting group, ‘Awada Kerikeri’ which was headed by Adebayo Salami in 1992. She got acting roles and starred in movies like Sura the Tailor, Village Headmaster, Our Husband Have Gone Mad Again, Ashewo To Re Mecca’ amongst others.
She had her big break in 2001, in the premiere of ‘Oh Father, Oh Daughter’ a popular Nigerian TV Drama series Super Story. The role she played in the TV series earned her the nickname ‘Toyin Tomato’.
Sobowale was not consistent in the industry for some years. She took a big break from acting following her relocation to UK with her family. According to her, she had to give her children good education.
However, in 2016, she made a huge comeback into the industry when she took the role of ‘Tinuade Coker’ in a comic romantic drama ‘Wedding Party’ which she co-directed with Kemi Adetiba and Adesua Etomi.
In 2018, she also starred as ‘Alhaja Eniola Salami’ in a political thriller ‘King of Boys’ which was directed by Kemi Adetiba. However, she has continued to flawlessly deliver and interpret her roles in other movies.
Some movies she has acted in are, Diamond Ring, Unforgettable, Tim Ba’Taiye Wa, Love From Above, Dangerous Twins, Ohun Oko Somida, Wives on Strikes: The Revolution, Gold Statue, Seven and a Half Dates, The Enemy I Know, e.t.c.
