He was born on November 27, 1976, in Jos, Plateau state as the fourth of six children.

He attended Stepping Stone Nursery and Primary School for his basic education after which he proceeded to the Federal Government College, Ogbomoso for his secondary education from 1988-1993.

Upon completing his secondary education, he moved on to bag a degree in Geography and Regional Planning from Lagos State University in 1999.

Sound Sultan developed a passion for music in 1991 while he was still in secondary school. He started miming at school parties and writing his own lyrics. His show business career started in 1996 when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions. In 2000, he released his first single ‘Jagbanjantis’ which soon became a street sensation. Following the success of his single, he went on to release other songs and got signed into Kennis Music afterwards where he released four albums.

He left Kennis Music in 2007 after his contract expired and teamed up with his brother, Baba Dee, to start Naija Ninjas, a parent organization for a record label, production outfit and clothing line.

Aside from being a rapper, Sound Sultan has dabbled into other genres of music like R&B, Afrobeat, Fuji and Soul. He believes that musicians should not be judged based on their music genre but by the message passed in the music.

Owing to his impeccable lifestyle and career, he became a UN Ambassador for Peace in 2012.

He died on July 11, 2021 after a fierce battle with throat cancer. He was 44 years old.
