Personal Life
Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado, and is the third of six children. He married Laura Deibel on April 7, 1984. Their daughter Katherine was born in December 1989.
The couple legally separated in 1999, with their divorce finalized in 2003. The actor then tied the knot with actress Jane Hajduk in October 2006 after they had dated for five years. They welcomed their daughter Elizabeth in March 2009.
Education
Allen attended Seaholm High School, Birmingham, where he was in music and theater classes. He studied at Central Michigan University and transferred to Western Michigan University in 1974, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.
In 1998, Western Michigan awarded Allen an honorary degree in Fine Arts and the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Career
The actor started his career as a comedian in 1975 and gained recognition appearing in local TV commercials and on cable comedy shows.
Allen became a famous movie star with the ABC sitcom Home Improvement (1991 to 1999). In November 1994, he starred in the highest-grossing film of the time, The Santa Clause.
He voiced the character of Buzz Lightyear in the Disney/Pixar blockbuster Toy Story (1995). He would reprise the role in the sequels.
The actor returned to the role of Scott Calvin in 2002 in The Santa Clause 2. Two years later, he headlined Christmas with the Kranks.
In 2006, he starred in Zoom, and that same year was seen in The Shaggy Dog and The Santa Clause 3.
