Personal life

Tedela was born as the first child of his parents in Lagos. He is from the state of Ekiti.Tope Tedela has received several awards for his work including Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, Nigeria Entertainment Award, Best of Nollywood Award, Nollywood Movies Award, Golden Icons Academy Movie Award, and Express Star Award.



He received his secondary education at Lagos State Model College in Meiran, Lagos, and a degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos.


Tedela made his screen debut as Julian in the family TV series Edge of Paradise while still a student at the University of Lagos. Tedela worked as an on-air personality at UNILAG FM while in school and shortly after graduation, so he took a break from acting for a bit to focus on his education. In the feature film A Mile from Home, he reprised his part as Lala, which was his first leading role. Tedela used to be a news anchor for the NTA. He appeared in a number of significant theatre productions.He rose to prominence after starring in the award-winning action-drama film A Mile from Home in 2013.Tope Tedela starred in the films A Soldier's Story and Out of Luck in 2015. Tedela's performance as metrosexual Kyle Stevens-Adedoyin in the 2016 comedy Suru L'ere received a lot of positive feedback.

In 2017, Tedela starred in the epic King Invincible, the comedy-crime/heist picture Ojukokoro, and the action-drama Slow Country, all of which garnered positive reviews. With the drama thriller film What Lies Within, he made his producing debut.Tedela starred in the crime film Knock Out Blessing in 2018.

In 2019, he starred as researcher Dr. Dauda in The Lost Okoroshi, which garnered largely excellent reviews after its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. He also begun work on Whumanizer, a one-man show. Tedela also starred in The Ghost and the House of Truth, a riveting drama film.

Tedela will star in Netflix's first Nigerian original series, directed by award-winning filmmaker Akin Omotoso, in 2020.
