History Of Ado-Odo/Ota

Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area is one of the 19 Local Government Areas in Ogun State, Nigeria. It was established on May 19, 1989, through the merger of Ota (part of the defunct Ifo/Ota Local Government) and Ado-Odo/Igbesa Areas of the Yewa South Local Government. The local government borders metropolitan Lagos and is the second-largest in Ogun State.

The headquarter is located in Ota (or Otta), located at 6°41′00″N 3°41′00″E to the north of the area. The towns include Araromi-Alade, Ado-Odo, Agbara, Igbesa, Iju-Ota, Itele, Kooko Ebiye Town, Owode, Sango Ota. The population is 526,565 (2006 census). The estimated population in recent years may have changed.
