History Of Afikpo South

Afikpo South Local Government Area is located in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, which falls under the Southeast geopolitical division of the country. The local government area comprises several towns and villages, including Ebuwana Edda, Ekoli Edda, Oso Edda, Ogbu Edda, and Etiti Edda. The headquarters of Afikpo South LGA is at Nguzu Edda.

Afikpo South LGA has an estimated population of 288,054 inhabitants. The predominant ethnic group in the area is the Edda sub-group of the Igbo tribe. Afikpo South Local Government Area was created in 1991 from the old Afikpo Local Government Area. The two most commonly spoken languages in Afikpo South LGA are Igbo and English.
