History Of Akko

Akko Local Government Area is situated in Gombe State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is located in Kumo town, which lies on the A345 highway, about 40 kilometers south of the state capital, Gombe. The town of Akko, from which the name of the local government area is derived, is west of Gombe.

Kumo, the headquarters of Akko LGA, is described as a cosmopolitan community comprising more than 30 different tribes. These include the dominant Fulani tribe, as well as Tangale, Tera, Hausa, and other minority ethnic groups. Akko Local Government Area encompasses several towns and villages, including Akko, Gona, Pindiga, Garin Garba, Jalingo, Jauro Tukur, Kembu, Kumo North, Kumo East, Panda, Kumo Central, Lergo, Garin Liman Kumo, Mararraban-Tumu, Tashan Magarya, and others.
